Horse Sense Behaviour Basics Series Part 1: Understanding Normal Horse Behaviour

He just spooked at nothing”
“She exploded out of the blue”
“He’s so difficult in the stable”
“She is really nappy to hack on her own”

Are you interested in having a better understanding of social behaviour, how horses perceive the world & how this shapes their behaviour, & time budgets: how they normally spend their time and the implications this has for our interactions with them? Taking time to have a better understanding of ethology, the horse’s behaviour in their natural setting, is an essential foundation for all involved in horse handling.

This kind of knowledge and understanding is of value whether you just want to work out what makes your own horse tick, or perhaps you are a livery yard owner and managing  groups of horses for people. Maybe you’re a coach or an equine professional and you just want to have a better insight that you can share with your clients.

As an ABTC registered Clinical Animal Behaviourist specialising in Equines, and a Psychologist, I have been teaching this topic at all levels from leisure rider and Pony Club to Post Graduate degree for twenty years. It really is at the foundation of everything that we do with our horses.

Why not take a look at the first lesson in my Behaviour Basics Series, ‘1. Understanding Normal Horse Behaviour’.
